Tiberias, Israel

What a day this promises to be. We'll come face to face with the story of King Jeroboam when we visit Tel Dan, and from there to the place where Jesus and His disciples were when He asked them, "Whom do men say that I am?" We'll view the land from the Golan Heights before heading to the area where Jesus spent a lot of time, where He delivered the famous Sermon on the Mount, and where He fed over 5,000 people. After a memorable lunch we'll take a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and pause on the sea for a brief service. The boat will take us back to our kibbutz for dinner.

Friday, Sept 27
Nof Ginosar Inn

Today we depart Tiberias and go via the Valley of Jezreel (Armageddon) to a quiet spot where we will be reminded of a story in the life of a young man named Gideon. We also hope to visit Bet Shean, the largest archeological site in Israel. In the afternoon we'll spend time in Nazareth, the village of Mary and Joseph, before going to the River Jordan for a memorable baptism service, then return to Nof Ginosar.

We leave our kibbutz and depart the Galilee area, heading south along the Jordan River. We'll make a memorable stop in Jericho to recall the story of Joshua, the Children of Israel, Rahab, and the collapsed walls. From there we head 'up to Jerusalem'. We'll immediately be walking in the footsteps of Jesus as we go to the Mount of Olives, walk the Palm Sunday Road, view the Temple Mount, and enter the Garden of Gethsemane. After lunch we'll pause at the Jerusalem Museum to see an unbelievable model of the city and pause briefly to view some of the Dead Sea Scrolls. After this full day we check into our Jerusalem hotel, the Grand Court.

Sunday, Sept 29

Jerusalem, Israel

There are a lot of great things in store for our group today. We leave Jerusalem but don't travel far to the city of David, Bethlehem. We'll stop at the Herodion, a palace of King Herod, and from that vantage point we will have a brief morning service. Then it's on to the Shepherd's Fields before walking the streets of Bethlehem to the Church of the Nativity, the traditional birth site of our Savior. Perhaps while we are there we will sing a Christmas carol. Then we'll slow down for a great Bethlehem lunch before doing some shopping and heading back to Jerusalem and the Grand Court.

Monday, Sept 30

Jerusalem, Israel

Here we go again. We head back toward Jericho, turning south along the shores of the Dead Sea. We'll make a brief stop in Kumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947, and from there we'll continue to Masada. After this memorable stop we head a little further south to the Dead Sea Crowne Plaza Hotel for a great lunch and we'll remain there long enough for those interested to experience 'floating' in the Dead Sea or use their beautiful swimming pools. Following that we head back to our hotel in Jerusalem.

Today we spend time in and around the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. Outside the walls we'll visit the spot where Jesus was condemned by Caiaphas, the High Priest, and we'll pause in the traditional spot called the Upper Room. Entering the Old City we'll have a memorable time at the Wailing Wall and we'll take part in the celebrations of the Jewish New Year--seeing and hearing the shofar blasts. We'll depart that area for the Pool of Bethesda before walking the famous Via Dolorosa, the traditional path Jesus took carrying His cross to Golgotha, which will take us to the 2nd century Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Before heading back to our hotel we'll visit the Friends of Zion Museum where we'll be reminded of the people and stories that assisted in making Israel a nation among nations today.
